
VooDoo Doughnuts Rebrand
is a redesign for the iconic nationwide brand known for its bold personality and unique flavor combinations. Staying true to their vibrant pink palette and playful spirit, I refreshed their brand by softening the Voodoo character and updating the typography to a more handwritten style. This redesign retains the quirky edge while enhancing the brand’s approachability, reflecting their mission to have fun, stay a little weird and dominate the doughnut world in every community they serve.
Why Rebrand?
Voodoo Doughnuts uniquely blends a playful concept—doughnuts—with an edgy aesthetic tied to voodoo culture. While their iconic pink branding is memorable and supports their slogan “Good Things Come in Pink Boxes,” their current logo lacks scalability and versatility in smaller formats.
Logo Redesign:
I streamlined their tri-color, detail-heavy logo into a bold, versatile icon that merges the initials “VD” with visual nods to the brand’s edgy persona. This simplified mark ensures instant recognition across all sizes and platforms, making it more impactful for their target audience: young adults in high-traffic urban areas.
Packaging:
To elevate the brand’s focus on themed doughnuts, I proposed functional yet aesthetic packaging solutions:
Single Doughnut Box: A circular box featuring playful caricatures for social media-ready moments.
Stacked Doughnut Sleeve: A slide-out design that maintains their slogan while offering an organized, visually appealing presentation from every angle.
Menu Update:
Voodoo’s current menu design is complicated and packed. With this design, VooDoo would keep their iconic coffin shape but increase readability of what they offer in house! By using the high contrasting colors and handwritten feel still, we combine the death of VooDoo with a complete visual subject.
Social Strategy:
Voodoo’s TikTok presence is dynamic, but their broader social media lacks cohesion. Integrating physical touchpoints like merchandise, ads, and event-based campaigns would strengthen their digital storytelling and community engagement.
Mascot Development:
Friendlier, quirky mascots can inject charm into print and digital advertisements, complementing slogans like “Doughnuts Worth Dying For.” These mascots would resonate with urban audiences while reinforcing the brand’s playful yet bold identity.
Print Advertising:
In addition to the social media and developed caricatures, VooDoo Doughnuts would benefit from starting to release physical advertisements in the urban area, like these fun posters and layered bus station advertisements.
This rebrand modernizes Voodoo Doughnuts’ aesthetic, enhances customer interaction, and amplifies its urban appeal, creating a cohesive, scalable identity primed for growth.
